The Auspicious AZ-5109 is a ball limit switch with a top ball plunger actuator. Instead of a flat plunger head or a roller on a lever, a steel ball sits in the head of the switch. A cam or moving part presses down on it, the plunger travels, and the contacts change over.

The ball shape is what makes this model useful where the approach is not perfectly square. A flat plunger needs the cam to press straight down, and any side force scrapes the head or binds the plunger. The ball rolls in its seat, so angled contact from any direction turns into clean downward travel. That keeps the trip point repeatable and stops the actuator wearing out on machines where alignment shifts over time.

Electrically it handles 10A at 125 or 300V AC and 1HP at 250V AC, enough to switch a small motor directly rather than driving a contactor coil. IP67 sealing is the key spec for outdoor and washdown work: the body is fully dust tight and survives temporary immersion. Dust proof and oil tight construction with stainless steel internals backs that up, and the 40mm wide body gives a solid mounting footprint on heavy frames.

Common Applications

Overhead cam sequencing on heavy machinery, press and die position detection, lift and hoist travel limits, conveyor and transfer line stops, outdoor material handling equipment, car park and industrial door mechanisms, washdown areas in food and beverage plants, and any point where a cam presses down at a slight angle onto the switch.

Choosing the Right Limit Switch Actuator

The actuator is the decision, and it follows how the moving part meets the switch. A ball plunger suits a downward press that may come in at an angle. Where the part sweeps past from the side, a wheel catches it better: the big wheel limit switch AZ-5108L shares the same 10A rating and IP67 body but uses an adjustable roller lever.

For long reach onto a target set away from the switch, the adjustable rod limit switch AZ-5107 is the heavy duty option in this series, and the 5A adjustable rod limit switch AZ-8107 covers lighter indoor duty.

Where the job is smaller and cheaper, the lever limit switch AZ-7120 mounts flat along a frame, the roller plunger limit switch AM-1308 carries 15A from a top roller plunger, and the spring limit switch AZ-8166 flexes rather than breaking when a load overruns.

FAQ,s

What is a ball limit switch?

It is a limit switch with a steel ball in the plunger head. A cam or moving part presses on the ball, the plunger travels down, and the contacts change over to signal the controller.

Why choose a ball plunger over a flat plunger?

Because the ball rolls in its seat. A flat head needs the cam to press straight down, and side force scrapes or binds it. The ball turns angled contact into clean vertical travel, so the switch lasts longer and trips at the same point every time.

What does IP67 mean here?

IP67 means the body is fully dust tight and can withstand temporary immersion in water, which suits outdoor plant, washdown areas and sites exposed to rain.

Can it switch a motor directly?

Yes, up to 1HP at 250V AC and half a horsepower at 125V AC. Larger motors should run through a contactor with this switch driving the coil.

What does 1NO 1NC mean?

One normally open and one normally closed contact. When the ball is pressed, the NO closes and the NC opens, giving a position signal and an interlock from a single device.

How does it compare with a roller lever switch?

A ball plunger works best when the cam comes down onto the switch from above. A roller lever reaches out to meet a part passing from the side, so pick by approach direction rather than price.
