The TER PF33750100 is a crane limit switch with a cross rod actuator, built to stop travel before a crane, hoist or trolley runs past its safe limit. Two rods project from the body in a cross pattern, so the moving part can strike the switch from either side and still operate it. On overhead travel, where the machine may approach the limit from either direction, that two sided action is what makes a cross rod the standard choice.

The mechanism holds four maintained positions at 90 degree intervals. Once struck, the switch stays in its new position instead of springing back, so the stop command latches until the crane is driven clear and the rod is reset. This prevents the chattering and repeat triggering that a momentary switch would produce as a heavy load swings against the actuator.

The 1NO and 1NC snap action contacts are rated AC15 250V 3A, which covers direct switching of contactor coils in a crane control panel. IP65 protection with the special M20 gland keeps dust and water jets out, and the operating range of minus 25 to plus 70 degrees Celsius suits outdoor yards and unheated workshops. Class II insulation, CE and EAC marking and compliance with EN 60204-1, EN 60947-1, EN 60947-5-1 and EN 60529 cover it for inspected industrial installations.

Common Applications

Overhead travelling crane end of travel limits, gantry and bridge crane stops, hoist and trolley travel protection, monorail and runway systems, steel yard and warehouse cranes, port and workshop lifting equipment, and any long travel application where the machine can approach the limit from both directions.

Choosing the Right Crane Limit Switch

Rod arrangement and contact configuration are the two things to match to the installation. If your control circuit needs two break contacts in a staggered sequence rather than one make and one break, the cross limit switch F201110001 is the TER alternative, with two 200mm rods and 1NC plus 1NC staggered contacts for a pre warning stage before the final stop.

For lighter travel limits on smaller equipment, the big wheel limit switch AZ-5108L gives an oversized roller at IP67 and switches up to 1HP directly, while the ball limit switch AZ-5109 uses a top ball plunger for straight down actuation. Where the contact comes from an unpredictable angle and an overrun could bend a rigid rod, the spring limit switch AZ-8166 flexes instead of breaking.

FAQ,s

What is a crane limit switch?

It is a switch fitted at the end of a crane or hoist travel path. When the machine reaches the limit, it strikes the actuator, the contacts change over and the drive is stopped before the equipment runs past its safe position.

Why use a cross rod actuator?

Because long travel machines approach the limit from two directions. The cross rod arrangement lets the switch be struck from either side and operate correctly, which a single lever cannot do.

What does four maintained positions mean?

The actuator holds each position it is moved to rather than springing back. That latches the stop command and stops the switch chattering while a suspended load swings against the rod.

What does AC15 250V 3A mean?

AC15 is the utilisation category for switching electromagnetic loads such as contactor coils. The switch handles 3 amps at 250V AC in that duty, which covers normal crane control circuits.

Is IP65 enough for outdoor crane use?

Yes for most installations. IP65 means dust tight and protected against water jets, and the rating applies when the special M20 cable gland is fitted. The switch operates from minus 25 to plus 70 degrees Celsius.

How often can it operate?

Up to 3600 maneuvers per hour, which is one per second, so it suits high cycle lifting operations.
