The Auspicious AZ-8166 is a spring limit switch that uses a flexible coil actuator instead of a rigid lever or plunger. The spring bends when something touches it from any direction, and that bend operates the contacts. Because it does not care which way the force comes from, it suits applications where the moving part does not always arrive on the same line.

That flexibility is also what protects it. A rigid lever can be bent or snapped by an overrun, but a spring actuator simply deflects further and returns to shape. On conveyors, trolleys and material handling equipment where a load may swing or drift, the spring absorbs the impact that would damage a plunger type switch.

Contacts are one normally open and one normally closed, so the switch gives a position signal and an interlock from a single device. It is rated 5A at 250V AC and 0.4A at 125V DC for resistive loads, which covers direct AC control switching and DC inputs into a PLC. IP65 sealing with stainless steel internals, oil tight and dust proof construction means it holds up in machine shops, wash areas and outdoor plant. UL and CE approvals cover it for export machinery.

Common Applications

Trolley and carriage detection on overhead conveyors, pallet and load position sensing in material handling, detecting swinging or irregular objects on a line, end of travel protection where the approach angle varies, packaging and bottling lines, textile and paper machines where a thread or web must be sensed gently, and any point where a rigid actuator would be damaged by an overrun.

Choosing the Right Limit Switch Actuator

The actuator decides the switch, and it comes down to how the moving part arrives. A spring suits multi directional or unpredictable contact. Where travel is straight and repeatable, a lever is cheaper and more precise: the lever limit switch AZ-7120 is a compact side mount option rated 10A.

For sliding cams where wear matters, the adjustable roller lever limit switch AZ-8108 adds a roller and a settable lever length. For long reach onto an irregular target, the adjustable rod limit switch AZ-8107 uses a thin rod you can shape to suit. Where the part pushes straight onto the switch, the cross roller plunger limit switch ME-8122 handles direct push actuation, and for heavier duty the 10A adjustable roller lever limit switch AZ-5108 has a larger body.

FAQ,s

What is a spring limit switch?

It is a limit switch with a flexible coil spring as the actuator. Anything that touches the spring from any direction bends it, and that movement operates the contacts inside.

Why use a spring actuator instead of a lever?

Because it responds to contact from any direction and survives overrun. A rigid lever can bend or break if the load goes past the switch, while a spring just flexes further and springs back.

What does 1NO 1NC mean?

One normally open and one normally closed contact. When the spring is deflected, the NO closes and the NC opens, giving two signals from one device.

Can it connect directly to a PLC?

Yes. The 0.4A 125V DC rating covers standard 24V DC PLC inputs, and the 5A 250V AC rating allows direct switching of AC control circuits.

Is the AZ-8166 suitable for wet and dusty areas?

Yes. It is IP65 rated with dust proof and oil tight construction and stainless steel internal parts, so it works in machine shops, wash down areas and outdoor plant.

How fast can it detect movement?

The operating speed range runs from 0.5mm per second up to 50m per second, so it covers both slow creeping movement and fast moving lines.
