The Auspicious AM-1701 is a long lever limit switch from the AM microswitch series, built to detect a moving part that sits away from the switch body. The extended lever reaches out to meet the target, so the switch itself can be mounted clear of the moving mechanism where there is room for it, rather than crammed in next to the contact point.

A longer lever does two useful things. It reaches further, and it needs less force to operate because the extra length gives more leverage on the internal plunger. That matters when the moving part is light, such as a door flap, a hopper gate or a thin panel, where a plunger type switch would need more push than the target can deliver.

Despite the small body, it carries 15A at 125 or 250V AC and will switch a quarter horsepower motor directly at 250V AC, so it can control a load without a contactor in between. One normally open and one normally closed contact give a position signal and an interlock from a single unit. IP55 protection covers dust and low pressure water for normal machine and workshop conditions. CE marked and made in Taiwan.

Common Applications

Door, flap and cover position detection, hopper and chute gate sensing, vending and dispensing mechanisms, enclosure and guard interlocks, appliance and equipment cover switches, light duty end of travel detection, and any application where the switch must sit away from the moving part or the target is too light to push a plunger.

Choosing the Right Limit Switch

The actuator decides the switch, and the choice depends on how the moving part arrives and how much force it delivers. A long lever suits light targets and distant contact points. Where the part arrives directly from the side with more force behind it, the lever limit switch AZ-7120 is a compact side mount option with a short lever.

For repeat cycle duty with a sliding cam, a roller reduces wear: the roller plunger limit switch AM-1308 shares the same 15A rating with a top roller, while the adjustable roller lever limit switch AZ-8108 lets you set the lever length. The adjustable rod limit switch AZ-8107 gives long reach onto irregular targets, and the spring limit switch AZ-8166 flexes instead of breaking when a load overruns.

For heavy plant such as lifts and cranes, step up to the big wheel limit switch AZ-5108L with its IP67 body. Browse the full 15 amp micro switch range or the wider limit and micro switches category.

FAQ,s

What is a long lever limit switch used for?

It detects a moving part that sits away from the switch body. The extended lever reaches out to the target, so the switch can be mounted somewhere convenient instead of right at the contact point.

Why choose a long lever over a short one?

Two reasons. It reaches further, and it operates with less force because the longer arm gives more leverage. That suits light doors, flaps and gates that cannot push a stiff actuator.

What does 1NO 1NC mean?

One normally open and one normally closed contact. When the lever is pushed, the NO closes and the NC opens, giving two signals from a single device.

Can it switch a motor directly?

Yes, up to a quarter horsepower at 250V AC. Anything larger should run through a contactor with the switch driving the coil.

Is IP55 enough for my application?

IP55 resists dust and low pressure water, which covers most indoor machine and workshop conditions. For washdown, coolant or outdoor use choose an IP65 or IP67 model.

Can the lever be bent to fit?

The AM-1701 lever is a fixed long arm. If you need to shape the actuator to suit an awkward target, use the adjustable rod model instead.
