The TER C55579800C3 is a cable pull switch, also called a rope pull or pull cord switch, used to stop machinery from any point along its length. A steel rope runs beside a conveyor or production line and connects to the switch at one end. Pull the rope anywhere along that run and the switch trips, which is why it is the standard safety device where a single emergency stop button on a panel would be too far from where a person actually works.

Manual reset is what makes it safe rather than just convenient. Once tripped, the switch stays tripped. Somebody has to walk to the unit and physically reset it, so the line cannot restart on its own after the rope is released. That forced check is required by most conveyor safety standards.
