The ABB S273 is a 1 Amp three pole MCB Miniature Circuit Breaker built to protect low current control and instrumentation circuits from overload and short circuit faults. With a 10kA breaking capacity, it holds up in panels fed from strong supply sources where a lower rated device would not be suitable.
Its C curve tripping characteristic allows normal inrush from small transformers, contactor coils and control gear to pass without nuisance tripping, while still clearing genuine faults quickly. The three pole construction switches all three phases together, so a fault on any one line isolates the full circuit rather than leaving part of it live.
The unit clips onto standard 35mm DIN rail and fits neatly into distribution boards, control panels and machine enclosures. Manufactured in Italy by ABB, it carries the build quality and long service life panel builders expect from the S200 family.

FAQÂ
What is an MCB Miniature Circuit Breaker used for?Â
An MCB Miniature Circuit Breaker automatically disconnects a circuit when it detects an overload or short circuit, protecting cables and connected equipment. Unlike a fuse it can be reset and reused after the fault is cleared.
Why choose a C curve MCB instead of a B curve?
A C curve trips between 5 and 10 times rated current, so it tolerates the brief inrush of transformers, motors and contactor coils. A B curve trips between 3 and 5 times and is better suited to resistive and lighting loads.
What does 10kA breaking capacity mean?
It is the maximum prospective short circuit current the breaker can safely interrupt. A 10kA device is specified where the supply can deliver high fault current, such as panels close to a transformer.
Can a 1 Amp MCB be used for a motor?
Not for the motor supply itself. A 1 Amp rating is intended for control, metering and instrumentation circuits. Motor feeders need an MCB or MPCB sized to the full load current.
Does this MCB fit standard DIN rail?
Yes. The ABB S273 clips onto standard 35mm DIN rail in any distribution board or control panel.
