The TER C51579800C3 is a pull wire switch used to stop a conveyor or moving machine from anywhere along its length. A steel wire runs beside the equipment and connects back to the switch. Anyone standing near the line can grab the wire and pull, and the machine stops. On a long conveyor where a fixed emergency stop button might be twenty metres away, that is the difference between stopping the machine and not reaching it in time.

Manual reset is the part that matters for safety. Once the wire is pulled the switch latches and stays tripped, so the conveyor cannot restart on its own or be started remotely by someone who has not checked the line. An operator has to go to the switch and reset it by hand, which means going to the point where the trip happened.

Contacts are one normally open and two normally closed, wired slow action break before make. Slow action gives a controlled, positive opening rather than a snap, and break before make guarantees the closed contacts open fully before the open one closes. The two NC contacts support dual channel wiring into a safety relay, while the NO contact is free for alarm or PLC signalling.
