The roller plunger takes a direct downward push from a cam or moving part. The roller turns rather than scraping, which keeps the trip point stable over long cycle counts where a plain plunger head would wear flat and eventually jam. Operating speed runs from 1mm to 2m per second, so it covers slow creeping travel and fast moving carriages alike.
