The wheel is the reason this model lasts in repeat duty. A plain lever tip scrapes against the cam every cycle, and that friction slowly wears the contact point until the trip position drifts. The wheel rolls instead of dragging, so the switch trips at the same spot on cycle one and cycle fifty thousand. It also means a faster moving part can pass without snagging the actuator.
